I know that the fish oil contains EPA and DHA while the flaxseed oil has ALA....from the reading i did on the univ of maryland site it states ". Once ingested, the body converts ALA to EPA and DHA, the two types of omega-3 fatty acids more readily used by the body.
"
So should the flaxseed oil be beneficial for the dogs and cats like the fish oil would? I was a little iffy on using the fish oil long term cause of the mercury and other contaminents in it and I am not willing to pay 50.00 a bottle for ultra-refined fish oil that only lasts 2 weeks
Thanks
Actually I have seen quite a few comanies that sell fish oil have regular bottles and then a seperate bottle specifically marked mercury free....
I will be careful though if being allergic is a possibility and start the dosage very low. Thank you
